Does anybody else remember 2 very old trees that stood just at the entrance, as you went in to Bexley Hospital. According to my mother who worked as a secratary at the hospital, these trees are mentioned in the Doomsday book. I have since been back to the hospital, after its development to looked for these trees, i was interested in there fate.

As a child we would play in the hospital grounds and i remember seeing patients standing next to theses massive and ancient trees smoking ciggies. i would just ride past on my bike on the way to Joydons Wood. I think they are sweet chestuts.

When entering the hopital after the development, i was at first disorinetated as the new entrance is different, however i kept exploring the new estate and found that the two trees had been left and included in a lawn out the front of some new house. Go in the Hospital and go left if you want to see them.

i went over to them, remembering these old trees are included in the Doomsday book. A very angry resident game out shouting" get off my land" i just laughed in the knowledge of what history these trees have and the angry resident seemed completely oblivious to the fact that this is where mental pateints would hang out.

This trees should have a plaque next to them, they are a very important part of the history of the Mapole estate. Can anyone post a photo, i wish i had one to share with you. ill get one next time i go back.
